How Much Do Office Cubicles Cost?

A Practical Guide to New, Used & Refurbished Workstations

Custom open-plan office workstations pre-assembled and installed in a Denver commercial space

Cubicle pricing is one of those questions that sounds simple until you try to price a real office.

How much is a cubicle?

Well…how big is it? How many do you need? New, used or refurbished? Tall panels or low? Built-in storage? Power? Glass? Sit-stand worksurfaces? Are we working with an empty room, or trying to make 18 people fit comfortably into a space that was originally set up for 12?

There are a lot of variables.

That’s also why you’ll find plenty of office furniture websites that manage to write an entire article about cubicle pricing without ever really telling you what cubicles cost.

We’re not going to do that.

So, What Do Office Cubicles Cost?

If you’re simply trying to determine whether you’re looking at hundreds, thousands or tens of thousands of dollars, some ballpark numbers are helpful.

As of 2026, published industry pricing generally puts cubicles and workstations somewhere around these ranges:

Used cubicles: often around $200–$1,000 per workstation
Standard new cubicles: commonly around $800–$2,000 per workstation
Larger or more customized workstations: often $1,800–$5,000 per station
Highly customized or upgraded workstations: $4,000+ per station is certainly possible

These are industry ballparks, not Office Furniture EZ quotes. Actual pricing can vary significantly depending on the furniture system, condition, size, configuration, finishes and what’s included.

Our own current inventory illustrates the point. We may have a 6′ x 6′ workstation in the low four figures, a two-person configuration for several thousand dollars, or a four-person setup that looks expensive at first glance until you divide the total cost among four workstations.

That’s why the price of one cubicle isn’t necessarily the same as the price per cubicle in an actual project.

If you’re buying a six-pack, furnishing a department or planning a whole floor of workstations, shared panels and components can change the economics considerably.

The opposite is also true. Taller panels, glass, additional storage, electrical components, sit-stand worksurfaces, specialty finishes and other upgrades can move the price upward.

So use those numbers to get yourself into the right general neighborhood.

Then let’s figure out what your office actually needs.

New Cubicles Aren’t Your Only Option

One of the easiest ways to blow an office furniture budget is to assume every workstation has to be ordered brand new.

Sometimes new is absolutely the right answer. Sometimes it isn’t.

Office Furniture EZ works with new, used and refurbished cubicles and office furniture, which gives us considerably more room to find a solution that fits the project and the budget.

New systems give you the most flexibility when it comes to sizes, finishes, panel heights, storage and configuration. They’re often a great choice when you need a larger quantity of matching workstations or want a system that can grow and change with your company.

Used cubicles can save a substantial amount of money if the right inventory is available. Because used inventory changes constantly, this is one of those times when it’s worth asking us what we have rather than assuming what you see online is your only option.

Refurbished systems can offer another alternative, combining proven commercial-grade systems with updated fabrics, worksurfaces or finishes.

And sometimes the best furniture for your project is already sitting in your office.

Before you replace a perfectly good cubicle system, let us take a look at it.

We may be able to reconfigure what you have, add workstations, change the layout, replace certain components or combine existing furniture with something new.

A Six-Pack Is Different From Six Separate Cubicles

This is one of the reasons cubicle pricing gets confusing so quickly.

Imagine six completely freestanding workstations. Each one needs its own components. Now imagine six workstations configured together as a pod.

Depending on the furniture system and layout, some panels and other components can be shared. Multiply that across 20, 40 or 60 employees and the way the floor is planned starts to matter quite a bit.

Quantity can matter, too.

Then there are the things you add to the workstation:

Higher panels: More privacy
Lower panels: A more open feel
Glass: More light and a less enclosed look
Overhead storage: Adds storage without taking up floor space
File pedestals: Keeps everyday files and supplies close at hand
Shelving: Useful for binders, reference materials and personal items
Power and data: Important when workstations need built-in electrical access
Sit-stand worksurfaces: Adds ergonomic flexibility
Monitor arms: Frees up desk space and improves adjustability

This is why two companies can both say, “We need 20 cubicles,” and end up with very different projects and very different budgets.

This Is Where a Project Manager Helps

You shouldn’t have to become an expert in panel systems, electrical components and workstation specifications just because somebody put you in charge of buying office furniture.

When you work with Office Furniture EZ, you’ll have a project manager who can help you navigate the project – from figuring out what will fit to selecting furniture, working through project details, and coordinating delivery and installation.

Maybe you know exactly what you want. Great!

Maybe you have a floor plan and a headcount but don’t know what size workstation makes sense. We can work with that.

Maybe all you’ve been told is, “We need room for eight more people by next month.”

We can work with that too.

Our job is to help you sort through the choices, point out things that may cause trouble later and keep the project moving without making you figure out every furniture detail on your own.

Already Have a Cubicle Bid? We’ll Help You Sanity-Check It.

You may already be further along.

Maybe another dealer has given you a proposal and now you’re staring at a very large number wondering:

Is this reasonable? Send it our way.

We’re happy to take a look at an existing bid, talk through the configuration and help you understand what you’re being quoted.

Sometimes the original proposal may make perfect sense. Sometimes there may be a different way to configure the space. Used or refurbished furniture might be an option. Certain upgrades may not be necessary. Or we may see an entirely different approach worth considering.

We’re not interested in playing the “we’ll beat anybody’s price” game.

This is about making sure you understand what you’re buying and have another set of experienced eyes on the project before you make a significant investment.

Most people buy a large group of cubicles only occasionally. We do this every day.

The Size of the Cubicle Changes More Than the Price

A 6′ x 6′ workstation is popular for a reason. It provides enough room for many employees to work comfortably without consuming an enormous amount of floor space.

But 6′ x 6′ isn’t automatically right for everybody.

Some employees need little more than a computer, phone and a place to sit.

Others have dual monitors, paperwork, equipment, files and coworkers stopping by throughout the day.

Some teams want lower panels and easier collaboration. Other employees need enough panel height and separation to actually concentrate.

And offices themselves are changing.

You may have fewer people coming in five days a week. You may be adding employees without adding square footage. You may be moving into a smaller office. Or you may simply be looking at a layout that’s been there for 15 years and realizing it doesn’t make much sense anymore.

That’s where space planning becomes just as important as furniture selection.

Don’t Forget the Things Around the Cubicle

The workstation itself isn’t necessarily the entire project budget.

You may also need:

Chairs. Task chairs range from straightforward commercial seating to highly adjustable ergonomic chairs, big-and-tall seating and specialty options.

Desks and worksurfaces. The size, shape and whether you want fixed-height or sit-stand surfaces will affect the price.

Storage. File pedestals, overheads, cabinets, bookcases and other storage can be configured around the way your employees actually work.

Power and data. If your cubicles need electrical service, it should be considered while the layout is being developed — not after everything arrives.

Delivery and installation. Commercial cubicles aren’t exactly something most people want to unload from a truck and put together on Saturday morning.

The cheapest individual component doesn’t always produce the least expensive project.

Buying the wrong size, overlooking electrical requirements or finding out during installation that a layout doesn’t work can get expensive fast.

This Is Why We Offer a Free Site Survey

You don’t have to know all of this before you contact us.

Actually, we’d prefer you didn’t lose three days trying to become a cubicle expert first.

Office Furniture EZ offers free onsite site surveys in the Denver and Colorado Springs areas. We can come to your office, take measurements, look at how the space is actually being used and talk through what you’re trying to accomplish.

Our free site surveys and planning process help us catch things that aren’t always obvious from a photograph or a rough floor plan.

How much walking space is there?

Where are the doors?

Where does the power need to go?

Are we creating an awkward dead end?

Will that workstation actually fit where everybody thinks it’s going to fit?

Could the space support another workstation if you grow?

Maybe you need 40 cubicles.

Maybe you need six.

Maybe three new employees are starting next month and you just need to figure out where the heck to put them.

Those are all real office furniture projects.

Prefer to See the Furniture in Person? Please Do.

Sometimes you really do need to sit in the chair.

Office Furniture EZ has showrooms in both Denver and Colorado Springs, where you can see cubicles, desks, chairs and other commercial office furniture in person. Both showrooms are currently open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Come look at the finishes.

Sit in several chairs.

See how big a workstation actually feels.

Open the drawers.

Ask us why one option costs more than another.

You don’t need an appointment with a procurement committee and a three-inch binder.

If all you know is, “We have about 20 people and we’re trying to figure this out,” that’s enough to start.

What Happens When You Contact Office Furniture EZ?

This part shouldn’t be complicated.

Raise your hand through our website and we’ll call or email you within one business day.

A real person will find out what you’re working on and help determine the best next step.

That might mean scheduling your free site survey.

It could mean coming into the Denver or Colorado Springs showroom to look at options.

Maybe you need pricing on a specific workstation.

Maybe you already have a bid and want us to sanity-check it.

Or maybe you have absolutely no idea what you need yet.

That’s okay too.

We’re a family-owned Colorado business. You’re not dropping your information into an enormous national sales funnel and hoping somebody eventually figures out where you are and what you’re trying to buy.

We’ll help you figure it out.

So, How Much Should You Budget for Cubicles?

Start with three things:

How many people do you need to seat?

How much space do you have?

What do those people actually need to do their jobs?

Then we can start looking at the options.

New might be the right answer.

Used might save you a bundle.

Refurbished might give you the combination of appearance and value you’re looking for.

Reconfiguring furniture you already own might be smarter still.

And the solution for ten people may look completely different from the solution for 50.

That’s why we believe in giving customers useful ballpark numbers without pretending one price applies to every office.

If you’re planning cubicles or workstations in Denver, Colorado Springs or the surrounding area, schedule a free site survey and we’ll come take a look.

Or stop by one of our showrooms and see the furniture for yourself.

If you’ve already received a bid, send that over and let us take a second look.

Either way, you’ll hear from us within one business day.

Commercial workspaces can get complicated.

Getting help with one shouldn’t be.
